Dávid Vitézy: We have reached another milestone in the construction of the new Transport Museum
The Hungarian Ministry of Transport announced a conditional public procurement call for the construction of a new Transport Museum in Kőbánya. Minister Dávid Vitézy emphasized the importance of this project, recalling his previous efforts to relocate the museum after the original building was demolished in 2017. Plans were made to utilize the historical railway halls of the Northern Vehicle Repair Plant, but the previous minister decided to open the museum in Debrecen instead. Vitézy criticized this decision as misguided and noted that the current government aims to proceed with the original plans. The procurement process may take 8-12 months, after which funding will be assessed based on the budget's status. The museum has been without a permanent exhibition for ten years, and the transformed museum reopened in 2021 under a new name.
