Vitézy admitted he was too optimistic when he promised an October launch for the Budapest–Belgrade line

The launch of domestic passenger traffic on the Budapest-Belgrade railway has been delayed due to missing documents. Minister Vitézy Dávid admitted to being overly optimistic about the timeline. Currently, two approvals are still needed before operations can commence. Transportation expert Gergely Andó indicated that railway staff have been assigned to the line, suggesting that operations could begin by November 7. Originally, passenger trains were expected to start in mid-March, but delays occurred due to late adjustments to the Chinese system to meet EU requirements. Testing of the ETCS signaling system has been completed, and MÁV has conducted trial runs without passengers.
