Evicted widow? Gebalis says she never lived in that house
After six nights of protests, the Acampada de Lisboa movement shifted its focus to Bairro do Condado due to the eviction of a widow and her two children from a municipal house. The widow claims she lived there with her partner and his grandmother, the tenant, but Gebalis, the municipal housing management, disputes this, stating she was never part of the household. The eviction occurred on July 30, when police and Gebalis staff informed her she had to leave. The case gained attention during a recent assembly, where a deputy urged protesters to support the widow. Despite her attempts to regularize her situation after the deaths of her partner and his grandmother, Gebalis maintains she was not eligible for the property. The president of Gebalis stated the eviction was lawful, asserting that the widow was never a recognized occupant of the house.
