The European Commission has launched an investigation against Booking.com

The European Commission has initiated an investigation into Booking.com for potential non-compliance with regulations against fraudulent advertisements and phishing attacks. The inquiry will assess whether the platform adequately evaluated risks and took necessary user protection measures. It also examines if Booking.com properly informed users about paid advertisements, as there are concerns that paid listings were not clearly marked. Henna Virkkunen emphasized the need for European citizens to book vacations without fear of fraud. This is not the first legal challenge for Booking.com in Europe, as it previously faced a collective lawsuit from over ten thousand hotels regarding price parity clauses deemed illegal by the EU Court.
