Flemish Traffic Center opens renovated control rooms in Antwerp: "Faster intervention after an accident"
The Flemish Traffic Center has opened newly renovated control rooms in Antwerp to enhance monitoring of traffic jams, incidents, and technical failures. The updated facilities allow traffic leaders, technical operators, and road police to work more closely together, enabling quicker responses to accidents. The redesign aims to prepare for future infrastructure challenges as major projects are underway across Flanders. The new setup also facilitates faster updates on dynamic message boards for traffic incidents. The Traffic Center, part of the Agency for Roads and Traffic, has relocated three times since its establishment in 1999, with the latest move costing around one million euros.
