Avian influenza at Groningen poultry company, 45,000 animals culled
Avian influenza has been detected at a poultry farm in Lutjegast, leading to the culling of 45,000 birds. A transport ban is now in effect within a ten-kilometer radius to prevent further spread. The farm, which raises laying hens, is the first reported case since July. Despite the outbreak, there is currently no nationwide or regional confinement order in place, as the previous one was lifted in June. The Ministry of Agriculture is monitoring the situation closely.
