Electric cars: the third edition of social leasing struggles to reach 50,000 beneficiaries

After a strong start, the social leasing program for electric vehicles in France is experiencing a slowdown in orders. By the end of October, only 39,000 out of 50,000 subsidized vehicles had been ordered. The program, initiated by Emmanuel Macron, aims to provide low-income households with access to new electric cars for under 200 euros per month. However, changes in maximum aid amounts and evolving market conditions have impacted demand. The initial aid of 13,000 euros is set to decrease significantly in the coming years, raising the monthly payments for beneficiaries.
