Damage of tens of thousands of euros due to cyberattack on Delhaize in Eeklo: "Temperature was at 50 degrees"
The Delhaize store in Eeklo suffered significant damage due to a cyberattack that altered freezer temperatures to 50 degrees. The store manager had to reset systems in the middle of the night, resulting in the disposal of large quantities of meat and fish. Other Delhaize locations in East Flanders also faced similar issues, leading to temporary closures and limited product availability. Customers were informed about the situation, but many had to seek groceries elsewhere. Despite the challenges, some products remained available, and the stores have since reopened.
