Vucic pardoned attackers of students before leaving

Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic granted pardons to 49 individuals, including those accused of assaulting students during protests. The release of 23 names sparked criticism from the Student List, a political movement that recently won elections, claiming the pardons undermine legal institutions. Among the pardoned is Dijana Hrkalovic, accused of abuse of power, and a former criminal charged with attempted murder. Legal experts question the legality of the pardons, suggesting Vucic may have violated procedures. The Student List aims to uphold the rule of law and transparency in Serbian institutions following their electoral victory, which ended Vucic's 12-year rule marked by allegations of authoritarianism and corruption.
