Fireworks now also banned during New Year's Eve in Wetteren, Laarne and Wichelen: municipalities amend police regulations

The municipalities of Wetteren, Laarne, and Wichelen have extended their general firework ban to include New Year's celebrations. Previously, fireworks were allowed during the New Year, except in Wetteren, where it was already prohibited. The local council in Laarne had already decided to ban fireworks for the upcoming New Year, and now Wetteren's regulations are being updated to formalize this ban. From now on, permission from the mayor will be required for any fireworks. Community wardens in Wetteren will also be able to enforce regulations regarding littering, unleashed dogs, noise disturbances, and improper use of public spaces. However, they can only make observations, while the municipality decides on any administrative sanctions.
