The Lubusz National Revenue Administration intercepted an attempt to smuggle live lizards at the Koroszczyn border crossing. The reptiles were found in a truck entering from Belarus, hidden in plastic boxes and bags. The driver, a 41-year-old Belarusian, intended to sell them in Poland for €3,000. The lizards belong to various species, some of which are protected under CITES regulations. The estimated market value of the seized animals is around 100,000 PLN. Violating CITES regulations can lead to fines or imprisonment for three months to five years.
