Important change in the Polish justice system. MPs submitted a bill
The project is led by the Razem Party, with involvement from Paweł Śliz of Poland 2050, who is among the proposers. According to RMF FM journalist Jakub Rybski, the entire parliamentary club of Poland 2050 signed the bill, along with one MP from the Center and some politicians from the Rozwój Plus association. The proposed law aims to separate the roles of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice. The Attorney General would be appointed by the Sejm with a 3/5 majority and Senate consent for a six-year term without reappointment. The parliament could dismiss the Attorney General upon the request of the Prime Minister or the National Prosecutorial Council. Until a new Attorney General is appointed, the National Prosecutor would serve temporarily. Since 1990, Justice Ministers have also held the position of Attorney General, with the exception of 2010-2016.
