New complaint against Philip Morris: 'Heated tobacco product new wave of deception'
The Stichting Rookpreventie Jeugd plans to file a complaint against Philip Morris for misleading advertising regarding its IQOS tobacco heating system. The foundation claims that the company falsely promotes this product as a healthier alternative to smoking, despite evidence suggesting it is equally harmful. Lawyer Bénédicte Ficq, who previously represented the foundation in a 2016 case against Philip Morris, argues that the new complaint targets not only the company but also its executives and supporting scientists. The complaint is backed by several health organizations and is expected to have a stronger chance of success than the previous case, which was dismissed by the court.
