Work has started on a new radar tower at De Wallen in Burcht, also a tourist viewing platform

Construction has begun on a new radar tower and observation platform along the Schelde in Burcht, aimed at enhancing maritime safety. The radar will monitor ship positions and speeds, contributing to a comprehensive view of shipping traffic. Several new radar towers are being built in the region, with some, including those at De Wallen and Kruibeke ferry, being publicly accessible. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2027, with the towers designed in corten steel to blend with the landscape.
