The big bank may change its name. "We are systematically confused"
Pekao, established in 1929, is considering a rebranding due to confusion with competitor PKO BP. Although discussions about a name change have not yet occurred, CEO Cezary Stypułkowski has secured trademarks for "Polbank" and "Polbank24" as potential options. The bank's ownership by state entities complicates the rebranding process, especially in an election year, as significant financial resources are required. Previous rebranding efforts in the banking sector have proven costly, with examples showing expenses reaching hundreds of millions. Barbara Mróz-Gorgoń, a consultant for Pekao, was involved in analyzing the bank's brand strength but resigned from her government position amid controversy.
