Willebroek plans 100,000 flower bulbs: "Good for bees and butterflies and it makes us all happier"
The municipality of Willebroek will plant 100,000 flower bulbs this autumn, covering nearly 700 square meters next spring. The initiative aims to enhance street aesthetics and support biodiversity by providing food for bees and butterflies. The first bulbs have been planted in Kapellenboslaan and Stationsstraat, with more locations planned. Willebroek is using two types of bulb mixtures suitable for dry and wet soils, ensuring optimal growth conditions. The choice of naturalizing bulbs means they will return and multiply each year, contributing to increased floral diversity and community joy.
