Spokespersons of Minister Verlinden and the public prosecutor's office suspected after leaks in the i-Police case

A spokesperson for Justice Minister Annelies Verlinden and a spokesperson from the Brussels public prosecutor's office have been placed under investigation for breaching professional secrecy. This follows allegations that confidential information regarding the i-Police investigation was leaked. The investigation, which began earlier this year, has escalated into a full judicial inquiry. The spokesperson from the prosecutor's office has been suspended since June. The i-Police project aimed to digitize police processes and integrate various data systems but faced criticism for lack of results. Minister Verlinden supports her spokesperson, asserting that communication with prosecutors is part of standard duties and denies any wrongdoing.
