Elections in Israel. Nearly 80 percent of votes counted, Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc leads
Following the recent Knesset elections, 76.8% of votes have been counted, showing a slight lead for Netanyahu's right-wing bloc with 54 seats against 47 for the opposition led by Gadi Eisenkot. The Arab parties are projected to secure 19 seats. Despite initial exit polls suggesting a tie, forming a majority may require cooperation with Arab parties, which both blocs have previously rejected. Eisenkot has called for Netanyahu to step down, citing high voter turnout as a reason against further elections. U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the election results, suggesting his support for Netanyahu influenced the outcome. If coalition talks fail, new elections may be held early next year.
