Elections won from behind bars. Another trial of the mayor of Daszyna has begun.

Zbigniew Wojtera, the mayor of Daszyna, and five others face charges related to fraud for obtaining agricultural subsidies. Prosecutor Dominika Surowiec alleges Wojtera committed 19 offenses, including submitting false statements about his agricultural activities and financial conditions. The accused allegedly misled the Agricultural Restructuring and Modernization Agency, resulting in subsidies ranging from 75,000 to 300,000 PLN each. During the trial, two co-defendants denied wrongdoing and attributed responsibilities to others. The court postponed the case until January 2024 for further evidence. Wojtera previously received a 3.5-year prison sentence in a related case, which he is appealing. The prosecution claims the group defrauded the agency of up to 11 million PLN from 2009 to 2017.
