The Military District Court acquitted a soldier who accidentally shot a Syrian migrant at the Belarus border in November 2023. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that soldiers should not be left alone in difficult situations. The incident occurred when the soldier slipped and fell, causing his weapon to discharge. The investigation found no negligence on the soldier's part, and he received legal support throughout the process. The judge noted that the weapon could have fired even if properly secured. Witnesses confirmed that the soldier provided first aid to the injured migrant.
