XIV. Leo cast his ballot in the United States midterm elections

Pope Leo XIV cast his vote in the U.S. midterm elections, marking him as the first Catholic leader to participate in a secular election. He utilized his voting rights while residing in Peru before becoming pope. The elections are scheduled for November 3, allowing eligible American citizens abroad and military members to vote by mail. Leo requested his ballot to be sent to his brother's registered address in New Lenox, Illinois. Historically, he has voted for Democrats in 2008 and 2010, and for Republicans in subsequent elections, including general elections in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2024.
