A 4.5-year prison sentence was imposed in Germany for the export of waste to the Czech Republic
A former executive of Roth International was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for illegally exporting waste to the Czech Republic. A Czech truck driver involved received a two-year suspended sentence. The waste was improperly disposed of in Jiříkov and Brno. The court found the executive guilty of multiple counts of illegal waste export, while the driver was convicted in fewer cases. The waste included fiberglass and batteries, totaling 760 tons. The regional government of Upper Palatinate is responsible for the cleanup costs, which they plan to recover from Roth International, now in insolvency.
