The murderer, sentenced to life in prison, escaped from jail. A reward has been set.

Jacob Allen Morley was sentenced to life imprisonment for the first-degree murder of Cody Birchfield in June 2025. Birchfield's body was found hidden under Morley's house. In addition to murder, Morley was convicted of vandalism, tampering with evidence, burglary, and evading arrest. Recently, he escaped from Northwest Correctional Complex in Tennessee, breaching the prison fence and stealing a vehicle. Authorities have launched a manhunt and offered a reward for information leading to his capture. Morley's escape follows a previous police chase that led to his arrest in 2022. The Tennessee prison system has faced scrutiny due to recent execution issues.
