Lost 16th-century papal bull found. The treasure was discovered in a private home

The Spanish gendarmerie has successfully recovered a 16th-century papal bull after a two-year investigation. The document was found in El Viso del Alcor, Sevilla, among family memorabilia. The owner, an Andalusian resident, claimed he intended to protect the artifact rather than sell it. The bull, issued by Pope Pius V in 1571, confirms local aristocrats' participation in the Battle of Lepanto. Its authenticity has been verified by historians and Vatican experts, and it is now housed in the Historical Archive of the Province of Sevilla for preservation and research.
