"Coup d'état". The First President of the Supreme Court thunders regarding the Constitutional Tribunal

Zbigniew Kapiński, the First President of the Supreme Court, expressed outrage over actions surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal, labeling them a "coup d'état." He criticized the police's involvement and the actions of some judges, stating they were illegal and undermined the independence of constitutional bodies. Kapiński emphasized that the boundaries of power in Poland are defined by the Constitution, not political decisions or displays of force. He warned that silence regarding actions threatening the independence of constitutional organs implies consent to practices endangering the foundations of the Polish state. He condemned the use of police as a tool to restrict the functioning of constitutional authorities, asserting that their role is to ensure public safety, not to exert pressure on the judiciary.
