Payment delays undermine the foundations of the construction sector
As of August 2026, overdue debts in Poland reached 6.22 billion PLN, marking a significant increase from the previous year. The construction sector, characterized by fragmentation, saw a rise in companies with payment delays, particularly in railway and road construction. Despite a slight improvement in finishing works, overall financial health remains precarious, with firms often delaying payments due to liquidity issues. The construction industry is experiencing a notable increase in bankruptcies and restructuring, highlighting ongoing financial challenges.
