Astonishing phenomenon over Kcynia. This tornado seed should not have formed
On Sunday, a high-pressure system named Jurij influenced Poland's weather, bringing cool polar air from the northeast. The sky was mostly cloudy with occasional clearings, leading to minor atmospheric disturbances. A small condensation funnel was observed in Kcynia, Kujawsko-Pomorskie. Meteorologist Arleta Unton-Pyziołek explained that the stable high-pressure conditions typically hinder the formation of updrafts and condensation funnels. However, local thermodynamics broke through this stability due to brief clearings, allowing warm air to rise and create a vertical temperature gradient. This instability led to the formation of small updrafts, which, when encountering a local wind convergence zone, resulted in the development of the funnel. The phenomenon was surprising given the prevailing anticyclonic conditions.
