Zelensky: The Russians did not keep their promise to Trump, so we will continue our attacks on energy facilities
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed renewed attacks on Russian oil refineries in response to ongoing strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure by Russia. Ukraine had previously agreed to refrain from such attacks at the request of former U.S. President Donald Trump, contingent on Russia halting its assaults on Ukraine's energy system. Despite this agreement, Russia continued its attacks, leading to a challenging period for Ukraine amid drone strikes on its energy network. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine's response was a direct reaction to cyberattacks from Russia, which targeted civilian systems. He also noted the timing of recent attacks coinciding with U.S. midterm elections, urging the U.S. to assist Ukraine in defending its airspace and achieving a lasting peace.
