Hospital, nature and heritage: new interpretation of Bruggenbeemd in Herentals gets green light from Province of Antwerp

The Antwerp provincial council has approved a new plan for the Bruggenbeemd area in Herentals, transforming it from residential to a multifunctional space that includes nature, water management, heritage, and a new hospital campus. This area, located near the city center and the train station, will now accommodate a new AZ Herentals campus, addressing the hospital's expansion needs. The plan, developed over ten years, aims to enhance the quality of life and resilience of the city. It also includes the reconstruction of historical city vestiges, contributing to the area's heritage.
