Zinc pits in Rotterdam Crooswijk due to underground leakage
In the Crooswijk district of Rotterdam, sinkholes have appeared due to an underground water leak, affecting streets and crawl spaces. The leak has caused sand erosion, leading to the formation of these holes, particularly on Crooswijksestraat and Hendrikstraat, which have been cordoned off. Water supply has been cut off to several homes for repairs by Evides, which must first pump out water from the crawl spaces before fixing the leak. The duration of the water supply interruption is currently unknown, but repairs are expected to be completed by late afternoon. Residents are advised to turn off all taps to prevent further leaks once water is restored.
