Destroy everything that disrupts order? The Czech animated film Plevel has won the European Emile Award
The short film "Plevel" by director Pola Kazakova won the Emile Award 2026 for Best Animation in Short Film. The award was announced on October 28 during the International Animation Day in Krakow. Produced by Maurfilm, the film is a graduate project from Kazakova at the Film Academy in Písek. "Plevel" employs a challenging oil painting technique on glass and has previously gained recognition at international festivals, including Cannes and Annecy. The film explores themes of chaos versus order through the story of a garden owner battling invasive weeds. Kazakova describes it as an animated myth about the dangers of impulsive actions stemming from fear of chaos.
