László Gajdos announced the establishment of the Green Guard

Hungary is establishing a new Green Guard to combat animal welfare violations, starting January 1, 2027. This unit will address issues like animal fights and neglect, allowing interventions that were previously not possible. Minister László Gajdos highlighted a recent case where a man received a prison sentence for neglecting two dogs, one of which died. The new initiative aims to ensure that animal suffering leads to legal consequences, emphasizing the importance of citizen reports and the role of animal welfare advocates in rescuing neglected animals.
