Daylight saving time is over: the clock goes back an hour tonight

Daylight saving time ends tonight, allowing people to sleep an extra hour. The clock will be set back one hour, marking the return to standard time in the Netherlands. This change, first introduced in 1916, was aimed at energy savings during World War I. Although the European Commission proposed to abolish the clock changes in 2018 due to public support, there is still no consensus on which time to keep. Studies show minimal energy savings from the time change, and many people experience disruptions in their routines.
