ZUS has more and more medical examiners

The ZUS has implemented reforms allowing non-specialist doctors to issue medical rulings, aiming to enhance the efficiency of medical assessments. As of October 2026, the medical staff at ZUS increased significantly, reversing a previous decline. The reforms also introduced flexible employment options for medical professionals, including physiotherapists and nurses, to improve service delivery. The number of medical assessors rose by 33, while the overall medical staff grew by 123 individuals, indicating a positive trend in staffing levels. These changes are expected to enhance ZUS's ability to manage sick leave and benefit assessments effectively.
