1 in 6 passenger cars shows defects during inspection: especially older cars, 1 defect occurs in cars of all ages
Between July 2025 and June 2026, 17.4% of over 2 million inspected cars in Flanders had defects, with older vehicles showing higher rates of issues. GOCA Vlaanderen's first Barometer reveals that 360,981 cars were deemed unfit for driving or required re-inspection within a short period. The report highlights that while 82% of vehicles had no significant defects, issues like headlight misalignment were common across all ages. The data aims to provide an objective view of vehicle conditions in the region.
