The budget resulted in a deficit of 200 billion forints in October

In October, Hungary's central government deficit reached 200.6 billion HUF, which is an improvement compared to the previous year. The cumulative deficit for the first ten months stands at 5462.5 billion HUF, representing 76.9% of the revised annual target. The government approved a supplementary budget projecting a total deficit of 7100 billion HUF for the year. Significant savings were noted in budgetary expenditures, amounting to 189 billion HUF less than last October. The Ministry of Finance attributes the high deficit to previous government actions and pre-financing of EU funds. A draft budget for 2027 has been submitted, aiming for a reduced deficit of 4.9% of GDP.
