ABTL Director: thousands may appear on magnetic tapes not as agents, but as monitored individuals
The Historical Archives of State Security Services (ÁBTL) announced that former politician Sándor Lezsák was mistakenly listed as an agent due to an IT error. Although his name appeared in the database, he was actually a monitored individual, not an agent. ÁBTL's director, Gergő Bendegúz, apologized for the mistake and acknowledged that similar errors might affect other individuals listed as monitored by the communist regime. He emphasized that the issue is limited to magnetic tapes, while other records are accurate. The agency will remove names of those who were not network agents from the database.
