Just a week after the elections, the umpteenth state leader has been arrested in Serbia.

Jugoslav Nikolic, director of the Serbian Republic Hydrometeorological Institute, was arrested in Belgrade on suspicion of money laundering involving over 650,000 euros. He and two associates allegedly attempted to conceal the origins of funds derived from criminal activities between November 2019 and November 2024 through various financial transactions and real estate purchases in Serbia and Montenegro. Nikolic reportedly deposited significant amounts into his bank accounts without being able to prove their legal origin. His arrest is part of a broader crackdown following the Serbian Progressive Party's electoral defeat on October 25, which has led to investigations against several former state and police officials.
