The employment of the Deputy Director of the Opera House has been terminated with immediate effect.
The Hungarian State Opera has terminated the employment of Deputy Director Dr. Virág Főző due to involvement in irregularities uncovered during an audit. Főző, who had been with the Opera since 2002 and Deputy Director since 2014, was closely associated with former Director Szilveszter Ókovács. The interim management will be handled by Balázs Ivacs. Minister Zoltán Tarr dismissed Ókovács, citing serious findings from the audit, including unauthorized salary increases. Ókovács claims he was not consulted during the audit and plans to take legal action against his dismissal.
