They thought it was lost in the war: a significant artwork has been discovered at the Hungarian National Museum

After 80 years, the Hungarian National Museum is showcasing the lost Apollo statue from World War II. The bronze sculpture, part of the museum's collection since before 1825, was recently identified as an ancient piece. It depicts a youthful Apollo, characterized by classical sculptural techniques. The statue's eyes are covered with silver, giving them a luminous quality. Despite suffering corrosion on the front, the back remains intact. This rare bronze statue, likely once displayed in a Roman villa, will be on view for a month starting November 4.
