Benfica will end the under-23 team at the end of the 2026/27 season

Benfica will discontinue its under-23 team at the end of the 2026/27 season as part of a restructuring of its youth development model. The focus will shift to under-19 and B teams, aiming to streamline the transition to senior football. Starting in 2027/28, promising players will move from under-19 to the B team and then to the first team. This change aims to enhance training processes, stability, and competitiveness within the squads. The under-23 team, created in 2018, will continue to compete until the end of the current season, having previously won the Taça Revelação in 2024/25. The club believes this new approach will better prepare athletes for professional football.
