Tokyo's stock market opens positively following the Democratic Party's midterm election victory in the U.S. and President Trump's conciliatory stance. The Nikkei index rises by 0.28% to 62,364.95, gaining 176 points. The yen strengthens against the dollar at 158.30 and slightly below 178 against the euro.
