Firefighters rescue cow from creek in Beveren-aan-de-IJzer: "Suddenly I heard mooing"
On Saturday morning, the Westhoek Fire Brigade rescued a cow from a stream in Beveren-aan-de-IJzer, alerted by a passerby. The cow had fallen into the stream and was unable to get out. The animal rescue team arrived and accessed the remote location via a dead-end dirt road. They used straps to lift the exhausted cow out of the water with the help of a farmer. After the rescue, the farmer transported the cow away. The entire operation lasted over an hour and a half. The passerby, Amelle Docquier, who discovered the cow, expressed her relief at the rescue and humorously noted the presence of a volunteer firefighter she knew.
