Cabo Delgado. Ukraine reaffirms support for the fight against terrorism

The Ukrainian ambassador to Mozambique expressed readiness to assist in combating terrorism in Cabo Delgado, contingent on the needs identified by the Mozambican government. During a visit to the region, Ambassador Rostyslav Tronenko emphasized Ukraine's willingness to provide expertise and support, while respecting Mozambique's sovereignty. The region has faced an armed insurgency since 2017, resulting in significant casualties and displacement. Recent reports indicate a surge in attacks attributed to extremist groups, prompting further displacement of residents. The situation remains critical, with a notable increase in conflict incidents reported in the first half of 2026.
