CGD has already lent €3.1 billion to young people with state guarantee

Caixa Geral de Depósitos has lent approximately €3.1 billion to young people under 35 through a state guarantee since January 2025. This initiative aims to support first-time home purchases, achieving a market share of 32.8% in 2026. The state guarantee covers up to 15% of the property value, allowing banks to finance between 85% and 100% of the transaction, with a maximum property price of €450,000. The program is valid for contracts signed until December 31, 2026, and may continue into 2027 as per the proposed state budget. If a borrower defaults, the state guarantee can be activated before any asset execution.
