Israeli settlers occupy Palestinian homes in Jericho
A group of around 30 Israeli settlers occupied eight Palestinian homes in Jericho, under the protection of Israeli Defense Forces. During the occupation, they opened fire on Palestinians, injuring two, including a foreign activist. The settlers claim the homes were secretly purchased and are on public land. The regional council supports dismantling the Oslo Accords and asserts that their actions aim to reverse these agreements. Human rights organization Peace Now condemned the attack, warning it could lead to ongoing violence and increased military presence in the area. They highlighted previous settler attacks and the potential negative consequences for both Israelis and Palestinians.
