Cyber incident costs parent company Albert Heijn at least 200 million euros

In October, Ahold Delhaize faced a significant cyberattack, leading to temporary disruptions in services and empty shelves. The company anticipates a revenue loss of €200 to €250 million due to this incident. Despite the setbacks, Ahold is pursuing growth by planning to acquire Tesco's supermarket operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, pending regulatory approval. Ahold already operates the Albert supermarket chain in the Czech Republic and aims to become the largest supermarket chain in the region. Additionally, Ahold reported a revenue increase of nearly 2% in the third quarter, with online sales growing by 8.2%, particularly strong in the U.S. at over 14%.
