Free hot meal at work. Check if your boss has to buy it for you starting in November
Starting November 1, 2026, employers must provide free hot meals to certain employees performing physically demanding outdoor work. This applies if energy expenditure exceeds 1500 kcal for men and 1000 kcal for women during a shift. The actual physical effort is crucial, not just the job title. Employers must decide on meal provision in consultation with labor unions or employee representatives. The right to meals is not affected by weather conditions. Meals must be substantial, around 1000 kcal, and cannot be substituted with cash. Employers also need to provide drinks in extreme temperatures. Failure to comply can result in fines up to 30,000 PLN.
