But you have a nice green license plate, just make sure it doesn't get damaged!
Owners of plug-in hybrid vehicles must replace their green license plates by November 30, or they will be banned from road traffic. Starting December 1, authorities will initiate the withdrawal of vehicles with old plates during road checks. The previous government decided to phase out green plates for plug-in hybrids, effective from September 1, 2024, allowing only fully electric vehicles to receive them. The new government did not revoke this regulation, as many owners have already complied. The change aims to align environmental benefits with actual performance, promoting electric mobility. Vehicle owners can choose between two options for re-registration, with fees ranging from 11,475 to 16,605 HUF. The ministry advises not to delay the process, as vehicles awaiting new plates will not be allowed on the road after the deadline.
