Democrats strengthen in the American Senate

The Democratic Party has gained its first Senate seat previously held by Republicans, with Roy Cooper projected to win in North Carolina. Chris Pappas also succeeded in New Hampshire. As of 3:30 AM CET, Democrats are predicted to hold 45 seats, while Republicans have 36, needing 51 for a majority. Cooper will be the first Democrat elected to the U.S. Senate from North Carolina since 2008. He consistently led in polls and fundraising against Republican Michael Whatley, who has conceded. Predictions indicate Democrats may secure eleven seats overall, with notable wins in Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Virginia. Republicans are expected to retain five seats, with Texas results still pending, potentially flipping to Democrats.
